Matthew Maloney Obituary

Matthew Lawrence Maloney Passed away in San Francisco at the age of 44 on Sunday, September 25. Matt was a light in all our lives. He was always the very first to help anyone and always with a smile. Matt was the proud father of three amazing boys, Cabot, Lincoln, and Parker. He is survived by his parents and three siblings Michael, Daniel, and Lynn. He had three nieces and one nephew. Matt was born to George and Barbara (Brunero) Maloney on March 23, 1972. He attended St. Rita's and later graduated from Marin Catholic High School in 1990. Matt went on to attend Chico State and later ran a successful construction business. He loved and was beloved by his business partners and employees. A prayer service will be held at St. Rita's Church in Fairfax on Friday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m. with a reception following in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, please contact Mike Maloney (cstreetmaloney@comcast. net) to make a gift or donation to a trust that is being formed for the benefit of Matt's children.

Barbara and George,
A friend sent me this when Tad passed this year and it comforted me "In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place no else can ever fill. It broke my heart to lose you,but you didn't go alone, Part of me went with you the day God took you home.

Dear Maloney Family,

These must be very sad days for your entire family as you grieve the loss of your dear son/brother/dad. I never had occasion to meet Matt but wish I would have during my time stationed at Marin Catholic.

I wish I could be there on Friday Oct 7 at St. Rita's as you gather to pray and share memories of Matt. I will be carrying you in my prayers, all the way from Washington, D.C. at that very day and time, so as to be in solidarity with you.

And since the sorrow of losing someone is ongoing, please be assured of my continued prayers, for the months and years to come. I will not forget!

May Our Lady, comforter of the sorrowing, intercede for you. May choirs of angels lead Matt home, before the face of God. May he rest in the peace of Christ.

With Love,
Sr. Miriam, O.P.

Very sorry for the loss of Matt. I had the pleasure of working with George and Mike in the SFFD. I also lived a few blocks away from Matt and his family. A few years ago, Mike told me about Matt and I sent a gift to Matt's family. My family lives on 25th Ave. and every time I drove by the Maloney house, I thought about Matt and his family. If Matt was every bit like his dad and brother are, I would have gotten along great with him. I would like to send a gift to the children of Matt from my family.
