Delbert Zwolle Obituary

MARION: Delbert A. Zwolle, age 76, of Marion, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 14, 1935 in Marion, Ohio to the late Ralph and Mary (Long) Zwolle. On June 12, 1958 in Marion, he he married Joy M. Reed and she survives. Delbert was retired as a Regional Vice President after thirty- two years with United Industrial Workers Union in Wilmington, CA. In Marion, Delbert was a member of Fairpark Community Baptist Church, was an avid tennis player, liked to shoot pool at the Marion Senior Center, and was a union man his whole work life helping to organize big companies. He also was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Other survivers to Delbert are two sons, Richard L. (Rachel) Weber of Omak, Washington, Mark R. (Trina) Zwolle of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Casie, Brandon, Adam, Daniel, Natalie, and Niki; and two great-grandchildren, Leslie and Dakota; also surviving is a sister, Ruth Davis of Marion, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents; Delbert was preceded in death by a son, Scott Zwolle, and a daughter, Nancy Anne Stitak; three brothers, Tom, Pete, and Charles; and four sisters, Kathryn, Gertrude, Elva, and Edris.

There will be a Memorial Service for Delbert on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fairpark Community Baptist Church, 940 Bermuda Dr. Officiating the service will be the Rev. David Rush. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the donor's choice.

Joy and the family would to also give a special thanks to the Marion General Hospital Hospice, and especially Carla, Rita, Brenda, and Joyce.

We will miss Delbert's smiling face at the Senior Center. He was here almost daily playing pool. He would make us laugh and always had a smile for everyone. He will be sorely missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family
