Marlene Haak Obituary

Marlene Nix Haak Marlene Nix Haak of Temple, formerly of Marlin, died October 26, 2024, at the age of 90. In accordance with Marlene's wishes, a private family memorial service was held.

Marlene was born in Marlin, Texas, to parents Dale and Saphronia Nix. She graduated from Marlin High School and attended MCC in Waco. In 1951 she married Garland Ray Haak. They were married for 63 years until Garland's death in 2015. Marlene and Garland had two daughters, Pamala and Deborah, who Marlene called her "little angels".

She worked for the Dollahite insurance agency in Marlin for many years before eventually purchasing the business. After a 33-year career in insurance she retired, and she and Garland moved to Temple.

Marlene loved to travel and enjoyed gardening. She especially loved sewing, quilting and croqueting and she made many beautiful pieces for her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland; daughter Pamala Raye Haak; parents Dale Nix and Saphronia Nix Daniels; stepmother Lucille Nix; brother John Nix; and sister Dorothy Wilhite. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Lynn Haak of Abilene; sister Joy Sharp Kelley of Salado; and several nephews and nieces.

Marlene requested that memorial contributions be made to the Abilene Volunteer Services Council for the benefit of the residents at the Abilene State Supported Living Center.
