Daniel Mostowski Obituary
1950 - 2024
South Hadley
Daniel "Dan" P. Mostowski, 74, passed away April 4, 2024 with his family at his side. He was born on March 2, 1950, in Holyoke, MA to the late Peter P. and Stella H. (Bury) Mostowski. He proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. Dan was a graduate of Chicopee Schools and STCC. After his time serving in the Army, he worked as a tractor trailer truck driver and retired in 2015 from New England Motor Freight.
Dan enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go fishing, especially in his boat. He was a very creative woodworker and enjoyed building all kinds of things. He also loved to travel, often in search of the closest palm tree, feed the birds in his back yard and tend to his home and beautify the yard. Most of all, Dan loved to spend time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean (Bain) Mostowski of South Hadley; their two children, Stacey Nestor and husband Karl of South Hadley, and Michael Mostowski and wife Kristyn of Chicopee; Four grandchildren, Brady and Riley Nestor of South Hadley and Madelynn and Sebastian Mostowski of Chicopee; and his brother, John Mostowski and his wife Arlene of Jupiter, FL. He will also be missed by his niece, nephews, cousins and many dear long time friends. The family wishes to thank the Baystate 5th floor SW nursing staff, The MICU staff and the thoracic surgery and pulmonary teams for the exceptional care provided to Dan.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 9th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 10th at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan's memory can be made to Shriners Children's Hospital by visiting lovetotherescue.org or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by visiting stjude.org. Lived across the street from Dan and Jean for many years. Miss those talks with him in his driveway as we both worked.on watering our lawns. He loved his yard, his family and talking about where he wanted to travel to next. I will never forget" the boat" and his many words of wisdom. Blessed to have known him.
