MAYSVILLE – Agatha McKee (Porter) Russell, 92, of Maysville, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center with her loving family by her side.
She was the widow of Charles Edward Russell who passed in 2000. Mrs. Russell and her husband formerly owned and operated Russell's Village Grocery which was located on Stonelick Road in Maysville.
She later began employment with Kroger's in Maysville and worked there until her retirement.
Agatha was a fifty-year-plus member of the Orangeburg Methodist Church, touching many lives as their Sunday School teacher.
She was a member of the Lewisburg Lion's Club and faithfully supported The Gideons International.
She was born in Fleming County, on June 8, 1932, the daughter of the late Clayton and Lavada McKee Porter.
Survivors include her two children, James (Shirley) Russell and Linda (Philip) Stacy; five grandchildren, Kevin Stacy, Troy Russell, Stephanie Stacy, Michelle Tanner and Jennifer (George) Roush; eight great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Minton, Zach (Kate) Stacy, George Roush III, Nathan Stacy, Emily Roush, Madison Roush, Nicholas Tanner and Natalie Meade and one great-great-grandchild, Riley Stacy and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers and their wives, Clyde (Betty) Porter, Owen (Joann) Porter and James (Barbara) Porter.
Funeral services for Agatha Russell will be held at the Orangeburg Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, with Rev. Adam Gulley and Rev. Wes Shoemaker Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Stacy, Zach Stacy, Nathan Stacy, George Roush III, Nicholas Tanner and Marty Mastin.
Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Orangeburg Methodist Church, 7119 Orangeburg Road, Maysville, KY 41056, or to The Gideons International, Maysville Gideon Camp, P. O. Box 501, Maysville, KY 41056.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Russell and her husband owned our neighborhood grocery on the corner of stonelick rd. They were always so nice when I would go into the store. We certainly depended on them. Best bologna ever! I´m so sorry to hear of her passing. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
