Not sure what to say?

February 24, 2019

Madeline- I just recently became aware of Tony's death and I want to say how saddened I was to hear of it. Tony was my classmate at Kutztown Univ. 1963-1965 . He was a great friend and encouraged me when I wasn't doing well in our Chem. class. He was always upbeat and was full of suggestions--one of them was to always keep an extra pair of socks in your bookbag!

I am the cousin of Janice Paul Schuler who I think was a neighbor of yours.

My sympathies to you and your children.

To the family of Tony:
It saddens me to hear about the passing of Tony. He was a great fellow teacher with a terrific personality who enlivened the room when he entered. I still smile when I recall the funny stories that he told about the characters Ying and Yang. He made the whole room roar with laughter. He was a great teacher who helped make P'burg High a great school. May he rest in peace with the Lord.

I had Mr. Getsko as a teacher for science and biology way back in the 70's. He was a fine teacher and made science fun. Prayers go out to his family and may he rest in peace. Class of 1973.

Thank you Mr. Getsko for opening up the world of science to me. I fell in love with science because of you and continued on in to nursing. You were the teacher I always remembered and will be the teacher I will never forget. Thank you. PHS class of 1972

To Getzko Family, He was one of my favorite teachers at PHS class of 73. Condolences to his family and RIP Mr. Getzko!

I hated biology but Mr. Getsko somehow made it enjoyable. My identical twin sister and I both had him in differently scheduled classes. He sweetly nicknamed us "tee-hee 1" and "tee-hee 2". May all of his family remember him in a blessed way. Be strong and my prayers are with you all.
Sincerely, Donna Exley-Yakich (class of 1973)

Fond memories of Mr. Getsko - his "Quests" and his task lists (especially the one about yawning). He made you work hard for your Bio grades and he is one of my favorite teachers to this day! Susan (Stryker) Jensen PHS 1989.

I still remember writing 50 times on the blackboard with chalk " I must have couth" Because I would just yell out the answers. He played a huge part of who I am today. One of the best teachers I ever had. Great guy, good sense of humor. Rest in peace Mr Getsko. I'll never forget. May your family find peace in the arms of the lord.

Dear Madeline and Family,
SO VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS!
I am Ethel, who Tony always called, "Eddie" and
Mike, who he called "Ken" use to visit Tony at your home and get him supplies for his rose bushes. I know we have not visited for quite some time because of his limited hours, but please know that he and your family have ALWAYS been in my prayers. I worked with him for many years at P.H.S. He was one of the best bio teachers we have ever had. Moreover, he taught me SO very much about caring for roses. Also, my yard is filled with weeping Lace-leaf Japanese Maple trees that he grafted. Every time I look at them and my roses, I think of him. He would bring BUCKETS of roses into school for everyone to share. WHAT A GREAT TEACHER, HUMAN BEING, AND FRIEND! May he finally rest in peace.
Most sincerely
