John Meagher

John E. Meagher, 79, of Slatington, passed peacefully Dec. 28th, at Phoebe Home, Allentown. John enjoyed hunting, trap and archery shooting. He was the PA state archery champ 3 times and the Mid-Atlantic champion in 1966. John spent his career as a professional truck driver for Lehigh Valley Dairy, the former Schaefer and Stroh's Breweries and Maier's Bakery. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Carole (Betzler) Meagher and they would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on Jan. 2nd. He is also survived by his daughter, Susan Catteau (Scott); sons-in-law, Scott Kern and Ted Ernst; granddaughters, Meaghen Kern, Heather and Hannah Catteau; grandson, Matthew Kern. John also leaves behind a sister, Patti Manescu. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Meagher-Ernst (Ted). Services: Private family graveside service. No calling hours. Pastor Henry Distler will officiate. Arrangements entrusted to Kevin E. Hunsicker Funeral Home Inc., Slatedale. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, to the charity of one's choice.
