Joseph Turek

Joseph Turek, 84, formerly of Tamaqua, died Jan. 24 in Veterans Administration Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of the late Anna (Englert) Turek. He was an electronics mechanic for Tobyhanna Army Depot. Born in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late Charles and Johanna (Novotny) Turek. He was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church, Tamaqua. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 95th Infantry Division. He was a past commander, service officer and chaplain of American Legion Post 173 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, both of Tamaqua. Survivors: Daughter, Ann L. Bilger of Glenmore, Chester County; brother, George of Bellwood, Ill.; sister, Mildred of Oak Lawn, Ill.; a granddaughter; two great-granddaughters. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Thomas J.
