CAROL REED Obituary

CAROL REED Carol Lee Reed, 95, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 at the McPherson Hospital. She was born on July 15, 1929 in El Dorado, Kansas, to Clyde and Zeela (Burns) Whetstone. She graduated from Stafford High School with the class of 1944. Carol later received certificates for Home Healthcare from Barton County and McPherson. She was united in marriage to Draphes "Tom" Reed. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1991. Carol was a devoted homemaker and later worked in the kitchen at Bethany College in Lindsborg. She worked several years at the Shiloh Manor in Canton, and spent many years working in home healthcare in McPherson until she retired. Carol was a member of the American Legion Post 192 in Canton. She is survived by her three sons, Ronald, Steven and David Reed, all of McPherson; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Dean Whetstone of Wichita. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Dale Whetstone; and sister, Dorothy Davis. Cremation is planned. A private family burial will take place later at the McPherson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 192, in care of Olson's Mortuary, PO Box 355, Canton, KS 67428.

I grew up in Roxbury and spent many hours with the
Reed boys. Carol was a second mom to me for many years. Condolences to Ron, Steve and Dave.
