Edward Baldes Obituary
Islands. On the morning of Sunday, September 9, 2007, Edward passed away after a long battle with lung cancer. He was a
resident of Merced for the past 30 years. Edward worked as a supervisor for Merced Irrigation District until his retirement in 2005. He devoted numerous hours to helping with the Portuguese festas at Buhach Pentecost Hall where he served as a director for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and with his dog, Molly.
Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Olinda, and his granddaughter, Ella Grace Thompson. He is survived by his children: Martha Baldes of Fresno, Eddie Baldes of Merced, and Veronica and Dustin Thompson of Fresno. One brother Joe Baldes of the Azores.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 2-8pm with a rosary to follow at 7pm at Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 10am at Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home.

I only met Edward once but I came to know one of his daughters. I learned what a kind and honorable man he was and wonderful father. He passed on his gift of integrity and kindness to his children, because of this, he will always be remembered.

Eddie had a great sense of humor, I knew him for a year. I started to clean his house and we used to talk alot. I would always ask him how he was feeling and Eddie never complained. He was one of the nicest and decent people I knew. I thank God for having the pleasure of getting to know him.

Hi, I wanted to send my condolences. I used to bartend for Eddie at Buhach hall for a couple of years. He could never pronounce my name right - he would call me bartender - I think that's how he had me programmed in his cell phone. It made everyone laugh including me. He was always a very nice and funny guy. He will be missed.
