Kenneth Huckobey Obituary

Kenneth Ray Huckobey
Dec 11, 1930 - Jan 14, 2019
Kenneth (known as Ray to many) was born on December 11, 1930 in Indian Creek, Texas. His family moved to California when he was 3. The Huckobey family settled in Dos Palos where they grew cotton and other crops. Kenneth graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1948 and later enlisted in the Navy where he served during the Korean War.
On his return to Dos Palos, he joined his father's land leveling business "Huckobey & Sons".
In 1958, he married Helen Cunha and they moved to Los Banos where their 3 children were born and raised. Kenneth continued his career after the family business ended working at Grasslands and San Luis Water Districts before going to work for the California Department of Water Resources in 1983. After his retirement in 1995, Kenneth and Helen purchased a 5th wheel and traveled coast to coast throughout the United States and enjoyed going on an Alaskan cruise. Kenneth's other passion was fishing, which he enjoyed with his sons, grandson, and great-grandson.
Kenneth and Helen have been active members in Calvary Baptist Church since early in their marriage where Kenneth served as a deacon and Bible teacher. Faith, family and friendships have been the keys to their 60 years of marriage. Kenneth's faith sustained him during his prolonged illness.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie Huckobey, and his siblings: Jack Huckobey, Clyde Huckobey, William Huckobey, Darrell Huckobey, and Barbara Lockwood.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Huckobey; his 3 children Karen Huckobey, Steven Huckobey, and Philip Huckobey; daughter-in-law Kim Huckobey, sister-in-laws Neavis Huckobey and Shirley Daguerre; granddaughter Amy Huckobey; grandson Lucas Huckobey; great-grandson Hunter Maron; 3 surrogate grandchildren: Lizzie Manzanedo, Lillie Koehler and Mark Koehler; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church Youth Department or The Los Banos Relay For Life Cancer Walk.
Graveside Service will be on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1 pm at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA followed by a Celebration of Life at 3pm at Calvary Baptist Church of Los Banos.
