1943 - 2022
Resident of San Jose
Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Friend. Donna Lee Stein, age 79, of San Jose, California, passed away Feb. 27, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur I. Stein, three children, Michael T. Stein, Shellie Mashburn and Dayna Pawlowski, 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Donna was a connector to numerous cousins, extended family and friends who adored her for who she was.
Donna was born in 1943, she grew up in San Jose, California and attended Samuel Ayre High School. Donna went on to receive her cosmetology license and started her own business. The Beauty Gazette, on Alum Rock Avenue was established in 1972 and the business continued until 1999.
Donna had a love of singing and was an aspired thespian. The world was a stage for her, and she was the star of the show. She decisively instilled the love of music in children. Donna had an amazing sense of humor. She was a lover of laughter and in turn, made everyone else laugh with her. Donna had a tenacious love for family. She worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, and always kept on loving them. Donna was one of a kind, and to be loved by her was to truly be blessed.
Donna was loved by everyone she encountered. She loved music. She never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed. Anyone that truly knew her, understood her benevolent heart. She could make you laugh. She loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing that Donna is now at peace, surrounded by light.
A private invitation has been sent through Facebook. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Sunday, March 13, 2022, 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Campbell Community Center in the Orchard City Banquet Hall. Contributions in memory of Donna can be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.

Although I didn't have much contact with Donna over the years, I'll always remember her smiling face and sense of humor. My love, thoughts and prayers are with the family.
