Emily Rhodes Lorraine
August 6, 1925 - July 5, 2007Pianist and nationally certified piano teacher with home studio in San Jose since 1985, and 1970-85 in Albany NY, 1956-61 Los Alamos NM, and 1945-56 & 1961-70 in Eugene OR, where she was born and raised.Survived by husband Ted Lorraine (they married 1970), and sons Tony Parker of Seattle WA & Eric Parker of San Jose, by sister Elsie Rhodes Hatch of Eugene OR, brother Charles Rhodes of Houston TX, & brother Robert Rhodes of Eugene OR, and by three grandchildren.Locally an active volunteer as board member of Steinway Society - the Bay Area, as docent at San Jose Museum of Art, as adjudicator for American Beethoven Society's Young Pianist's Beethoven Competition, and Saint Luke's Church choir member.Memorial Service Monday, July 30 at 10:00 a.m., Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, 20 University Ave, Los Gatos CA 95030 - Reception following. Emily was one of my most favorite people. She was a wonderful friend and fellow musician. I will always cherish memories of our visit together in the final days of her life.
