Guy Booten Obituary

Beloved husband, son and brother passed away on June 22, 2023 at his home in Grass Valley, CA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 10th from 4 - 7 pm at the Villa Ragusa, 35 S. 2nd Street, Campbell CA 95008. The family welcomes anyone with an anecdote about Guy to speak at the service. Guy was born on July 7, 1957 in San Jose, CA to Roland and Renetta Booten (Hayes). Guy graduated from Live Oak High School and subsequently earned an AA in High Velocity Air Conditioning (HVAC). He spent 40 years in the HVAC industry with many years as a Service Manager. During his tenure, he developed many effective innovative procedures and practices. He was influential in the lives of many young people at the beginning of their careers. He would see potential in them they did not recognize themselves and mentor them to be their best self and aspire to greater success. He had two children, Jason Booten and Kayleigh Booten and lived in the Morgan Hill area most of his life. He married Mary Jo Grant in 2016 and after retirement moved to Grass Valley. Guy enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved his two yellow labs and enjoyed watching the deer that came into his GV yard. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He was respected by his collleagues and dearly loved by his family. He was a kind and caring man that took care of others before himself because he had such a big heart for everyone. Guy leaves his wife, Mary Jo, son Jason, mother Renetta Hayes and step-father Carroll Hayes of Jamestown. His loving presence will be greatly missed in the lives of sisters Terrie Booten and Lynn Booten; his niece Callie Camper and nephew Nick Camper as well as many dear cousins, step siblings and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kayleigh, father Roland and dear grandparents. Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to a local Humane Society, ASPCA or charity of choice.

I am truly sorry to hear of Guy's passing, I just learned yesterday. Though I never worked for Guy, I did come to know him when I worked in the Union office. He was a good mentor to many service techs, He was a thoughtful man who I believe really did care about his Journeyman and Apprentices. I knew him to be firm when it was needed and lenient when it was deserved.

I will never forget the depth of genuine kindness, tutelar compassion and momentous honesty that I experienced in the very short time I was lucky enough to spend with you and Mary Jo, and for the rest of my life, I will cherish having experienced such a rarity of traits like yours that profoundly touched my heart, even in the worst of times and its most shattered pieces. God bless your family and friends who will always treasure the gift that was your presence and will forever hold close to the love you still share, and God bless you and Kaleigh's reunion.

My most sincere condolences to Lynn, Teri and Renetta. (I realize there are many more that should be mentioned here) I was so sad to hear about Guy's passing. My memories of Guy growing up was someone who was sweet and mellow, and an around good person. I know nothing I say here will help with the sorrow, and all I can say is that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Guy thank you for always being willing to help. I can't remember a time Guy ever said no he may have said are you f kidding right now .... but would always circle back to help. Guy you have been in my prayers for a long time. As you would ask if your grandmother sent me... lol I do hope that with all my heart you did make it right.
