Harold Harp Obituary

Harold Joe Harp Oct. 22, 1932 - April 22, 2009 Of Los Gatos. Joe died peacefully on Apr. 22, 2009 after a long battle with leukemia and diabetes. He was born in Plainview, Ark and son of Cleddie and Clarence Harp (deceased). At a very young age, his family moved to Canton, IL where he attended grammar school and graduated from Canton High School. After high school, Joe served four years in the Air Force. While stationed in Oxnard, CA he met his first wife Grace. They married while he was attending Bradley University in Peoria, IL. After graduating from Bradley in Mechanical Engineering, he moved his young family to CA where he worked for Lockheed Martin. He was a Systems Engineer and worked on the C4 and Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program. The Trident II D5 is aboard Trident II-configured Ohio - class submarines for the US Navy and the United Kingdom's Royal Navy. Joe retired from Lockheed Martin-Sunnyvale in July 1998, after 36 yrs. Joe enjoyed playing golf, fishing and the S.F. Giants. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family and doing activities with his sons. He was a member of Venture Christian Church, Los Gatos. Joe is survived by his wife Beverly; sons Jim (Donna) Harp of LaQuinta and Dave (Dawn) Harp of Dana Point; stepdaughters Laurie (Mike) Taul of Pleasant Hill and Lisa Nevils of San Miguel; grandchildren Breanna Harp, Danny Harp, Jace Harp, Jessica Taul and Colby Taul; sister Mary Nell (Gene) Haggerty of Jacksonville, IL and nieces and nephews. A private family celebration of life will be held.
