Harry W. Chow

Passed away peacefully in San Jose on May 16, 2007 at the age of 90. Mr. Chow was a pioneer Bay Area commercial chrysanthemum grower and shipper. From the 1940's to the 1970's, he operated his flower growing business in Belmont, Portola Valley, Cupertino, and San Jose. A long-time resident of Cupertino and San Francisco, he resided in the Bay Area since 1928, attending local schools in Belmont. He was previously President of the Hip Sen Benevolent Association and active member of the Hee Shen Benevolent Association and the Bay Area Chrysanthemum Grower's Association.Born in Canton China on December 27, 1916, he was preceded in death by his former wife Yuk Chow and sister, Sylvia C. Lock. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Wan Yee Chow of San Francisco and five children, Emory (Janice) Chow of Castro Valley, Carol (Marvin) Sakamoto of San Jose, Emily (Manny) Mahon of San Jose, Helen (Gerald) Chan of San Francisco, Eugene (Nancy) Chow of Lodi, CA. Six grandchildren, Andrea and Erik Chow, Shannon and Ryan Sakamoto, Bryan (Christiane) Mahon, and Amanda Chow, and great-granddaughter, Monroe Mahon, and numeorus nieces and nephews.A Wake will be held on Friday, May 25 from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Street Mortuary, 649 Green Street, San Francisco, CA.
