Isabel Amato Obituary

Isabel Torrez Amato died peacefully on June 30, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born in Hurley, NM on May 15, 1925. The youngest of 8 children born to Macedonio and Ramona Torrez. Her family moved to Greeley, CO and at the age of 8 she accepted the Lord and since then the church was the center of her life. In 1942 she enrolled in bible school in TX. She met John M. Gomez Jr., in 1944 and married the same year in Sept. They moved to San Jose, CA in 1948 where she found work at Sunsweet Ca.
She is survived by her children Lee Ross Gomez, Wanda Seaton (Greg), Kenneth Gomez (Joanie) and Nancy Gomez-Fisher (Roger), grandchildren: Lee Ross, Jr (Marlen), Lisa, Nichole, Jonathon, Lauren, Jason, Brian, Bridget and great grands: Andrew, Eric, Dylan, Desmond, Savannah, and Adam. In 1950, they joined the La Primera Iglesia Asambleas de Dios church where she was active in the women's group. In 1967 she started attending Faith Temple (now: Cathedral of Faith) where She has been a member since.
In 1966 Isabel received licensing to open a residential care home. Sadly in 1986 John and Isabel divorced but remained friends. Isabel fostered many children and babysat her grandchildren. In 1997 she met Joe Amato who would bring happiness and companionship in her life. They married in 1998. As a retired couple they were active in the senior group at church. Isabel loved the Lord and was a Godly woman throughout her life loving and cooking for her family but always putting God in the center of all that she did. Mom will be missed here on earth but she always said that this was not her forever home.
She will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery.
