John Edwin Barron

1923 - 2018

John Edwin Barron March 30, 1923 - September 19, 2018 As he did in life, John did it his way and passed peacefully away in his own home on September 19, 2018. John was born March 30, 1923 in Gasport, New York. He was the 6th of 11 children born to Thomas G. and Ida P. Barron. In March 1941 he quit high school to join the Navy not knowing that WWII was looming. He served 4 1/2 years aboard the USS North Carolina as she engaged in some of the fiercest naval battles in the South Pacific. He met the love of his life, Emily Loskutoff, while on shore leave in San Francisco. They were married on May 5th 1946 and moved to Redwood City in 1952. They shared almost 70 years together before Emily passed away in February of 2016. After retiring from the San Francisco Naval shipyard his life was filled with traveling in his motor home with Emily, building intricate scale-model planes, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked to keep busy and was always working on some project, big or small. He is survived by his children Barbara (Lester), Thomas (Peggy), Patricia and John, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who will miss him dearly. Private family services were held with interment at the Russian Sectarian Cemetery.
