Resident Of Campbell
Karl E. Hixson passed away on Mar 10th at his residence. He was born in Kamas, UT and moved with his family to Sunnyvale at the age of 14. Karl later moved to Campbell where he lived for the last 45 years. At the age of 18 he joined the Navy; after which he started a family with Carola Barton. Karl went in to the vending business and studied business nights at SJSU where he received his bachelor's degree.
Starting in 1986 he ran his own vending business until retiring in 2006. He loved retirement and jokingly commented that he should have done it a lot earlier. In 2003 he married Toody Kempf. He and Toody very much enjoyed each other and have had a life full of golfing, traveling and visiting family. In 2005 they joined the San Jose Country Club where they have been active members of a wonderful community.
Karl is survived by his wife Toody, his two children, Ray Hixson and Shannon Balcer, and grandchildren Ian Hixson, Julian Hixson, Sarabeth Balcer and Nick Balcer. He is also survived by his sister Colleen Leonesio and brother Barry Hixson.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends for his honest, down to earth style and great sense of humor.
A private ceremony was held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/, an organization that Karl was very fond of.

I am so very sorry for your Family's loss. I remember when Rob & Karl owned A Better Vending Company with so many fond memories.
I smile thinking about Karl in heaven swinging a golf club. Heaven has gained a Golf Angel.

Cousin Karl: You were a guidepost on how to live a decent and loving life. Glad that you had beautiful and special people in your life that made your final years happy and rewarding. Hate to see you go cousin, one less "good guy" in the world!

Please accept my condolences. Please know that the God of comfort feels your pain and sorrow. He actually provides something better to look forward to. Jeremiah 29:11 specifically tells us God wants to give us a peaceful "future and hope." He promises in the near future all the pain and sorrow you are experiencing about your loss will be gone and we will be able to enjoy perfect life with all our loved ones.
