Kimberly Nelson-Piscitello Obituary

Kimberly Nelson-Piscitello Kim died peacefully October 26, 2004 in the Stanford University Hospital ICU. She was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis shortly after her brother was diagnosed at age one, in 1970. Kim was age six at the time. Her brother Scott H. Nelson died on May 11, 1990 at the age of 21. Kim was fortunate to receive a double lung transplant six years ago. About one year post transplant, Kim and the donor's family were able to meet. Kim had the chance to express to the family of the donor, her deep gratitude for their gift of life, which she never took for granted. She also acknowledged the tragic loss of their 22-year-old daughter and sister. Their generous gift allowed Kim to celebrate her 40th birthday this past August. she was also able to marry the love of her life, Michael J. Piscitello July 16, 1999 on the anniversary of their first date in 1993. They both chose to take the legal name of Nelson-Piscitello.

Kim was born at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina and moved to her father's hometown of San Jose with her 2 yr old sister and parents soon after Kim's birth. She graduated from Willow Glen High School in 1982 and San Jose State University in 1987 with a degree in marketing. Her first job was as a power tools sales representative for Black & Decker in Sacramento. She covered the northern CA territory. After taking some time off, she was fortunate to find a teaching position supervising children in the statewide before/after school day care firm Child Development Center located on the Los Altos campus of Montclair School. She loved working with children and the children truly loved her.

In high school she was healthy and athletic, playing field hockey and basketball. She skied and enjoyed water sports. She attended Chico State University for her first two years of college. At SJ State she served as president of the Marketing Club and was a very effective debater on the SJSU Debate Team.

Her husband, Michael J. Nelson-Piscitello, father and mother, (Chuck) Charles H. Nelson and (Jody) Judith T. Nelson survive Kim in addition to her older sister, Tammy L. Nelson, all residents of SJ. She treasured her relationship with her cousins, and especially their children who referred to her as "Auntie Kim."

I'm so sorry to hear about Kim. My condolences and prayers to the Nelson and Piscitello families.

I went to high school w/ Kim and we played field hockey and basketball together as well as hung around the same "girl jock" crowd, "the Willow Glen BV's". I'll always remember her laughter and making others feel at ease, what a great personality!

Even though we hadn't been in touch for years and years, I'll miss her greatly, and always remember her fondly.

My memories of Kim are that she was so committed to her own well being.

She was fiercely protective of her father and those close to her.

She never complained to me about how bad she must have been feeling, but did tell me how great she felt after a massage.

She will always be a positive spirit in my memory.
