Leonard Herman Obituary

Leonard F. Herman Passed away on June 1, 2005 at his home in Fremont, California. He and his twin sister were born on the 19th of February in Keflavik Iceland. He was 56 years old when he died from heart failure.

He is survived by his mother Asta Herman, his twin Toby S. Herman, his brother in law Gunnar Thordarson and his two nephews Karl Brooke Herman Gunnarsson and Zakarias Herman Gunnarsson who live in Iceland and his cousins Toby Lehon, Leonard Hirschkowitz, Gwendolyn Cohen and their families who live in the US.

Lenny lived in Iceland, Spain and Puerto Rico with his family as a child. They moved to Arlington Virginia when Len was 16. He attended Lynchburg College and lived in Virginia until he moved to San Francisco shortly after his father Irving Herman passed away in 1972 (at the age of 57) and his mother moved back to Iceland. His sister moved to Iceland in 1981. Lenny remained in close contact with his family and friends in Iceland.

Len worked for Intel Corporation for many years and was an employee of Chips & Technologies when Intel acquired that company. He had just started his Intel sabbatical and was preparing to travel to Iceland to visit his family when he suddenly passed away.

Len was an avid reader and he kept up to date on current events and was happy to share his opinions with all who wanted to listen. His family and many friends will miss him very much.

Since my childhood, I have always had a special bond with my cousin Lenny. I have vivid images of Lenny the hippy with long hair. More recently, in August 2000, Lenny accompanied me to Iceland, where I spent a wonderful week with the Herman clan. Other than my father, I am the only American relative who has visited our Icelander family. I am so grateful I did. I will miss Lenny and all that he brought to my life.

Lennie was one of my son-in-law's (Jerry Conley) closest friends. During Lennie's visits to my home in San Mateo, California, I enjoyed his company and conversations. I shall really miss seeing him.

Lenny was and always will be the man of my life. How can you put 37 years of love into words.

Jim & Karen Myers will always hold Lenny as wonderful friend. As will we all.
