Lutfi Mukhar Obituary

Lutfi (Lou) Mukhar April 8, 1978 - Aug. 22, 2013 Resident of Foster City Lou (whose name means kindness) was born in San Francisco and raised in Foster City, California. He was a gentle soul and will be missed tremendously by all who knew him. Although he left us all too soon, he has left the world a better place because he was in it. Lou, played quarterback on the football team at San Mateo High School, graduated in 1996, and went on to San Francisco State University before being diagnosed with a debilitating mental illness. No effort was spared in the treatment and hope for his full recovery; however, with the recent death of his beloved mother, Amal, Lou was overwhelmed with grief and passed away unexpectedly. We find comfort in knowing he is now with his Mother and at rest in God's loving arms. Lou loved life immensely and lived each day to the fullest. His beautiful heart was filled with love for others; he loved to help and serve people, both young and old, and has touched the lives of everyone who were blessed to know him. Lou is survived by his loving Father, Jack, Brother Nader (Antonia), nephew Jacob, his Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and by his companion Dorinda. He is preceded in death by his beautiful Mother Amal and his Grandfather Issa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI) and we ask that you kindly remember this: if you should run into someone who is like Lou please do not turn your back ~ instead reach out and embrace them in remembrance of our wonderful Lou. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 27th at 1:00 Greek Orthodox Memorial Park, ~1148 El Camino Real, Colma CA A meal of mercy will follow at the Mukhar residence 707 Catamaran Street#2, Foster City, CA. First I would like to send my condolences to Lou's family.
I met Lou 3 years ago around Bridgepoint shopping center. He loved going to Starbucks. I could tell that he was a very nice person and I tried to help him with things when ever I could. When he was feeling lonely I would meet him for coffee sometimes so he could talk about things that were on his mind. Sometimes things didn't make sense but that was ok. I could tell he needed a friend. He told me about his mental illness during one of our chats which I told him I didn't care and that I would always be his friend. . I tried to protect him when I was around him. I would stick up for him when people would make not so nice comments. He was my friend a loving person with a big heart. He became a bit distant when his mother died and he moved to a different location here in foster city. I didn't see or hear from him so much anymore. I called and wished him a happy birthday this year but we hadn't talked or texted since which I feel very sad about. I am going to miss my friend Lou Lou. May you rest in peace.

I just saw you again a few weeks ago Lou. I was at the DMV and you flagged me sown. you said that we hadent seen each other in 10 years. I asked about your Mom and found out she had passed away a year and a half ago; I gave you a big sympathetic embrace and said how sorry I was knowing how much you loved her and were in pain for her suffering; and she loved you just as much I remember her telling me. I was 4th up on the DMV list and you asked me to step outside with you to the car and meet your girlfriend and we walked out as I offered to buy you a coke from the taco truck. And like everyone says, you always asked about my family and even my dog. Although we hung out all the time in the past, my friendship with you has always been kept in my heart. And when I saw you that day, we said we'd connect back and exchanged facebook. Going back in time (like it was yesterday) I will always remember when you called me up at night and we went to your favorite spot and just overlooked the city. Man I miss you Lou, and I was so fortunate enough to see you once again and embrace you before you left us. My heart is filled with a tremendous amount of sadness and I just have no words to express my sorrow. I love you Lou, you really were one of the few sympathetic, empathetic, giving, caring and just a real good guy in general. You'll never be forgotten, Love you ol' friend and rest in peace and may God Bless Your soul.
My condolences and utmost sympathy goes out to the Family.

I am heartbroken over the news of Lou's sudden passing. Lou and I grew up together in Foster City. He was such a sweet, gentle and loving soul. We have crossed paths many times in recent years, and when we have, he would always make it a point to ask about my children and family. I will miss seeing his kind face at all the local spots. I feel awful that I just got this news and did not get a chance to attend his funeral to say goodbye. Rest in love Lou; you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
