Robert "Bob" Marshall, Sr.
Resident of San Bruno
Former Mayor of San Bruno, (1980-1992), longtime business owner and community leader" passed away May 8, 2012. He was 77. Bob was known as "Mr. San Bruno" because of his years of dedication to serving the city he loved. Bob started Marshall Realty in San Bruno in 1959. While he was mayor, Bob was instrumental in getting the Senior Center built. The center has often been referred to as "The House that Bob Built" because of the effort he put into seeing that project completed. In 1990, San Bruno established its Sister City relationship with Narita, Japan. Bob was instrumental in getting the agreement signed, and to this day the International relationship between the two cities still stands. He was a former District Governor for District 4-C4 for the Lions Club, former president of the San Bruno Lions Club, a life member of the San Bruno Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the Peninsula Bank of Commerce and a former president of the North County Board of Realtors. Bob was also Realtor Emeritus with the National Association of Realtors and the San Mateo County Association of Realtors, Realtor of the Year, and most recently awarded the Community Service Award. Bob is survived by his wife, Paula, daughter Anne Oliva (Jose), sons, Bob Jr. (Marilyn), John (Gaby) and Stephan (Haydee) and Papo to Joey, Marco, Francesca, Marian, Bobby, Brittni, Johnny, Blanca, Elissia and Paulina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Lorene Marshall and his brothers, Don and Rich Marshall.
Bob attended grammar school at Corpus Christi and Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco where he has many lifelong friends. His second home in St Helena was a familiar stop for his many friends. He loved "drop ins" and entertaining his St Helena friends. Bob was a very generous man and admired by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to visit after 6:00 PM, Friday, May 11, 2012 at St. Robert's Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Rd. in San Bruno where the Vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM. A quick memory comes to mind of Paula Shopping @ JJill trying on multi outfits for a trip up to Sonoma. There sat Bob, waiting patiently sitting in a chair reading and enjoying his wife's zaniness! A grand partnership of love and respect. So sorry for your loss. Linda Guidotti-Golfos

Dear Paula,
My condolences to you and your family over the passing of Bob. It's been roughly 15 years since I've seen you folks and I often remember the gracious hospitality and kindness you both offered to the twenty-somethings next door, in St Helena. It was such a joy to sit in the yard and watch you two and listen to stories of your grandkids. I am truly saddened for your and your family's loss.
You're in my prayers,
Anne (Hurley) Obot
