Patrick Honkola Obituary

Patrick Allen Honkola

Born January 30, 1950 to John and Linnea Honkola. Married Rita November 1, 1969. Joined the U.S.Army and served in Germany 1971-1972. Pat took up skiing over 30 years ago and became PSIA/AASI Certified shortly after. Pat continued his certification and teaching at the Giants Ridge Ski School until present. Pat enjoyed teaching people of all ages the joy of snowboarding. Pat was a wonderful husband to Rita for nearly 57 years. Pat was a proud father to his daughter, Andrea and son, Hannes. Pat was an incredibly proud Grandpa to his two grandsons, Riley and Brock. Pat and Rita enjoyed dancing; attending 3 regular dances a month. Pat was a Mr. Fix It. Pat enjoyed woodworking and welding. He created so many beautiful and unique things. He made several figurines with weld; snowboarding, and dancing were his favorite. Pat shared his crafts with the people in his snowboarding and dancing groups.

Pat was extremely proud of his Finnish Heritage.

Pat is survived by his brother Harold, wife Rita, children Andrea and Hannes, grandchildren Riley and Brock, and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering will be held at Giants Ridge main chalet September 3, 2025, 4-7.

I am so saddened to hear about the loss of Pat. He touched so many lives at Giants Ridge. I so enjoyed working with him, always a smile on his face. His memory will always be celebrated.
