Shirley Ann Heglund
Shirley Ann Heglund, 83, of Aurora died Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora.
She was born on July 11, 1940 to Wilhelm and Frieda (Bonitz) Koosmann in Mellen, WI. Shirley grew up and attended Mellen High School, graduating from the Class of 1958. She went to work at the Concordia College in River Forest, IL in food service. She later was employed as a bookkeeper for the Mellen High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Allan Heglund on October 7, 1967. The couple moved to Aurora where they remained lifelong residents. Shirley worked as a daycare provider for many years, which she was thoroughly delighted to do. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church where she served on the Ladies and Altar Guilds and also as Finance Secretary. Shirley enjoyed attending sporting events, reading and providing childcare.
Survivors include her three children: Craig Heglund and Lesley Heglund, both of Aurora and Cliff (Sarah) Heglund of Springfield, MN; three grandchildren: Eli, Easton and Gia Heglund; brother, Ken Koosmann of Mellen, WI; sisters: Sylvia Heglund and Ruth Josephson, both of Mellen, WI and Joyce (Dave) Kaseno of Barron, WI; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan; brothers: Lloyd, Norbert and Donald Koosmann; sister, Leila Bernard; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Aurora with Pastor Zachary Klumpp officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Memorials are kindly preferred in lieu of flowers.

I am SO sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. I enjoyed the times we had, in my salon, as we laughed about stories we shared. My sympathy goes out to her 3 dear children.
