George Silkwood Obituary

George Marvel Silkwood, 74, of Emmett, Idaho, went to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Emmett Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.
George was born Oct. 12, 1936 in French Camp, Calif. to Paul and Sarah Silkwood. He spent his growing up years in California which included cherished time farming with his Uncle Elton and Aunt Marie. He had three older sisters, Virginia, Roberta and Nettie, and three younger brothers: Leroy, Bob and LeLand.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Baxter, June 16, 1957. They had two children, Timothy and Lori, and moved to Emmett in 1971. There, he homesteaded 30 acres, building their home, dairy farm, barns and corrals. Later, he worked as a carpenter and was a talented handyman. His favorite pastime was working on cars.
His immediate family consists of: his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Renae Silkwood, grandsons, Isaiah and Zechariah; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mike Lowe, grandsons, Joey, Jimmy and wife, Brigitte, and one great-grandson, Jonathan.
He was preceded in passing by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Silkwood. After 18 years of missing her everyday, he is finally with her. He leaves behind family and friends that loved his tender heart and generous ways.

We have known George since 1970. Altho we lost touch over the years we thought of him often. An honorable man, always smiling and willing to lend a hand. REST IN PEACE.
