Daisy Jarvis Obituary

Sadly our beloved Daisy JoAnn (Green) Jarvis of Brentwood, California passed away on October 27, 2024.

JoAnn was born March 5, 1934 in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Roberta Helen Philps and Clyde Albert Green. She was the oldest of six siblings and grew up at her parents' ranch on the outskirts of Challis, Idaho. JoAnn graduated from Challis High School in 1952 and attended Idaho State College, Pocatello, where she majored in physical education and nutrition, was a cheerleader, student council member and became the women's singles table tennis champion.

On June 19, 1955 she married her prince charming, Beryl Jesse Jarvis, also of Challis. During their life together they moved 36 times, to accommodate Beryl's career, and raised four children. Their married life started in Idaho and took them to Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada and eventually California. Through their many moves JoAnn adapted with resilience; completed her substitute teaching credentials at the University of Nevada-Reno; and pursued careers as a substitute teacher, H&R Block tax preparer, real estate agent, Amway distributor, and eventually retired from Wells Fargo Bank.

After losing Beryl to cancer in 1997, she bought a motorhome and over the next seven years spent vacation time touring the U.S., from California to Washington D.C., with her family, children and grandchildren. She also joined various dance clubs. JoAnn loved to dance; she was elegant, light on her feet and the 'bell of the ball'. In 2004, through one of her ballroom dance clubs she met a new partner, Nicola (Nick) Perroné. They spent the next 20 years together, traveling & cruising the world and dancing the nights away. (Nick passed away shortly after his beloved JoAnn, on January 25, 2025.)

In 2022, JoAnn was diagnosed with stage-4 ovarian cancer. She underwent surgeries and chemo treatments and was pronounced cancer-free in 2023. She fully recovered and resumed her dance and travel routine with Nick. In Summer 2024, side effects from experimental knee-regenerative cell injections debilitated her ability to walk. By October 2024, her heart could no longer keep up with her amazing spirit and she passed away from congestive heart failure.

JoAnn took sincere interest in the lives of those around her; she made friends easily and everywhere she went (including shopping lines and parking lots). JoAnn will be remembered for her lively, friendly, cheerful spirit; strength of character; open heart; vivaciousness; and willingness to listen.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Beryl, sons Curtis Lynn Jarvis and Troy Allen Jarvis, sisters Carol Joyce Green and Judith Ellen Smith, brother Gerald Douglas Green, and her parents.

Left to mourn JoAnn are her son Cary Jarvis (Toni, New Mexico), daughter Lesli VanderGroen (Frans, California), brother Ronald Green (Jan, Idaho), sister Melissa DuBois (Denis, Idaho), six grandchildren (Caryn, Samantha, Troy, Shane, Anthony and Christopher), three great grandchildren (Bobby, Olivia and River), along with many relatives and friends.

The family invites relatives and friends to join them on Saturday, August 2, 2025, 1:00 p.m., at the family's Mosquito Flat lodge, located in the mountains behind Challis, Idaho, for a Celebration of Life and potluck gathering, in remembrance of JoAnn-a Challis girl with a marvelous exuberance for life.
