Sharon Ladonna Newton Thomas, 82, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.
She worked as an assistant to the Pope County Clerk, then as a secretary for the Special Education Department of the Illinois Youth Center, Illinois Department of Corrections.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dorris; one brother; and one sister. Her parents were Elmer and Opal Marie Newton.
She is survived by her daughters, Twila Staton, Trina Slaughter, Teresa Miller, and Tammy Adkerson; and seven grandchildren; and eight brothers and sisters, Harry and Ronnie Newton of Indiana, David Newton of Texas, Joy Caplinger, Jean Larrison, Susie Eddleman-Summers, Thomas Newton and Gayla Warren all of southern Illinois.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Tim Green and Mark Staton will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at the funeral home.
