John May Obituary

John Paul May, 66, of Ashland MA passed away at the Parlin Hospice in Wayland, MA after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 14, 2018 while surrounded by the love of his friends and family. Born in Boston, raised in Northborough, MA Predeceased by his parents, James and Charlotte (Woods) May. He was the loving partner of Barbie Schwab, Ashland, MA. He leaves his siblings; Henry May of San Antonio, TX, Catherine May of Northborough MA, Dr. David May and his wife Kim of Shrewsbury, MA, and Peter May and his wife Eileen Shannon of Wakefield, MA. He also leaves his aunt Helen Woods of Wakefield, MA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews by birth as well as those who were adoptions of the heart. John graduated from Algonquin High then began his career as a professional musician. He was an accomplished guitarist, vocalist, and composer. He graced the stage as a member of many bands including: Populous, Justice, Sunrise Express, the New Boy Scouts, Oracle String Band and the C - Jammers. He also worked for over 20 years at the E. A .Davis & Co. interior design, Wellesley, MA. John's life revolved around his exuberant enthusiasm for music which touched the lives of all who knew him. Full of wit and wisdom, he was a gifted storyteller and teacher, willing to impart his knowledge to others. John was a special kind of friend that everyone hopes for, needs and seldom finds. His greatest accomplishment was achieving sobriety in his last years. He leaves a large hole in many hearts and will be greatly missed. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, September 19th, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Johns funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Thursday, September 20th, at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 70 W. Main Street, Westborough. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale.
