Richard C. Fix

1930 - 2015

Richard C. Dick Fix, 84, passed away June 25th 2015, at the Marlborough Hills Health Center in Marlborough following a short illness. Born December 26, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Conrad A. and Agnes (Thoms) Fix, both of Milwaukee. He was the husband of the late Norma (Tolivaisa) Fix of Bridgewater Massachusetts, who passed in 2002, and had been married for 43 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Pulaski High School (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), received a Bachelors degree in chemistry at the University of Wisconsin (1952) and a PhD in chemistry at MIT in 1956. He had a long career in the environmental sciences field, as a chemist and in management, and last worked for Interex, Chemical Waste Management, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services. He was an emeritus member of the New England Chapter of the Health Physics Society. Following his retirement, he spent many years as a volunteer at Marlborough Hospital, donating well over 8600 hours to the medical staff office. A long-time Marlborough resident, he was a resident of New Horizons at Marlborough prior to his illness. He was an avid gardener, and took interests in working on his home PC, in astronomy and in wildlife preservation efforts. He is survived by three sons: Eric R. (of Marlborough), Philip C. (of Quincy) and Daniel J. (of Shrewsbury,). Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, June 30th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Marlborough.
