PIQUA - Janice L. Denning, 85, of Piqua, passed away at 1:04 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Ayden Healthcare.
She was born March 2, 1937 in Piqua to the late LeRoy "Pete" and Edna M. (Fuller) Durand. She married John H. Hager April 18, 1956, and he preceded her in death June 30, 2001. She then married Thomas C. Denning October 30, 2001, in Laughlin, Nevada and he preceded her in death August 20, 2015.
Survivors include a son, Randy Hager of Piqua; two daughters-in-law, Joan Hager, Sharon Hager both of Piqua; two stepchildren, Gale Denning of Celina, Marla Poland of Piqua; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Bettie J. Denning of Piqua; one brother, Don Durand; and a sister-in-law, Sue Durand.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Durand; and two sons, Steven Hager and Rick (Neva) Hager.
Mrs. Denning was a 1955 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She worked for many years as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell, a cashier for the Shell Oil Company and as a nurse's aide at Piqua Memorial Hospital. She was a past member of the Salvation Army. She was a member of the Football Mom's Club and the Silver Craft & Lapidary Club where she used her talents to make all types of jewelry. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crafts.
A private graveside service to honor her life will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 129 S. Wayne St. Piqua, OH 45356, RT Industries, 110 Foss Way, Troy, OH 45373, or Hospice of Miami County, 3230 N.
