TROY - Richard A. Divens, age 78, of Troy passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Hospice of Miami County.
He was born in Pleasant Hill, OH on March 6, 1946, to the late Clarence and Marie "Romie" (Rhodes) Divens.
He is survived by his wife: Mary J. (Colburn) Divens; children: Mitch (Carrie) Divens and Chris Divens; stepdaughter: Hope (fiancé Josh Skeens) Nichols-Curtner; sister-in-law: Volita Divens; grandchildren: Blake Divens, Ashley Divens and Chase Divens, Kyle Nichols, Brittney Beam, Austin Nichols, Hailey Curtner, Javier Skeens and Sofia Skeens; great grandchildren: Elayna Dreer and special friends: Steve Bostic and Nancy Neth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: LeRoy Divens, Sr., Don Divens, Basil Divens and Ralph Ivan Divens and a sister: Ruby Wooddell.
He was a graduate of Newton High School and an FFA member. Richard bowled in leagues for many years and was a member of the Troy Fish and Game, Troy Eagles and Troy Moose. He retired after 30 years of service with BF Goodrich. He also worked at the Sunoco station in Piqua and later at Trimble in Huber Heights.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on August 24, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on August 24, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be may to Hospice of Miami County. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
