MIDDLESBORO — Mr. Franklin "Frank" D. Prater, age 67, of Middlesboro, KY, went home to be with his Savior on November 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 28, 1946 in Middlesboro, KY, and was the son of the late Virgil Prater Sr. and Carrie Prater Leath. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Hensley's Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and family man. He spent his time in the outdoors enjoying God's creation with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Virgil Prater Sr. He leaves behind to mourn his passing the following members of his family: his beloved wife of 47 years Billie Jo Prater; three children: son Franklin "Teddy" Prater of Middlesboro, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Timothy Fleeman of Harrogate, and son and daughter-in-law Michael and Jimmie Carol Prater of Middlesboro, KY; four grandchildren: Travis Prater of Washburn, TN, Tyler Prater of Middlesboro, KY, Bradley Fleeman of Harrogate, TN, and Taylor Prater of Middlesboro, KY; and one beloved great grandchild Johnathan Holland of Washburn, TN. Mother Carrie Prater Leath of Middlesboro, KY; three brothers: Kenneth and Marion Prater of Lutz, FL, Virgil Ray and Sue Prater of Middlesboro, KY, and Larry J.C. and Betty Prater, Middlesboro, KY; beloved mother- in- law: Dorothy Vanover of Middlesboro, KY; and a host of other family members too numerous to mention, yet he loved them all.
The family of Frank Prater will receive friends, Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Hensley's Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 8:00pm with Rev. Murphy Buell, Rev. Mark Prater officiating and Sammy Mars with special words. Music will be provided by the Warwick Family. Graveside services will be on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11:00am in the Prater family cemetery in Polly Hollow.
Pallbearers: Tim Prater, David Vanover Jr., Eric Brock, Rick Evans, Andy Yoakum, Todd Bayless, and Daniel Derringer.
