Eddie Langly Obituary

Eddie Francis Langly
Eddie Francis Langly, age 82, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and community service. Born in Georgetown County, South Carolina, on April 27, 1942, to the late Margie F. Langley and Silas J. Langley, Eddie was the fifth of ten children. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jannie B. Langley Grey, Creola Langley Williams and Anna Dell Langley; brothers, Ernest Langley and Peter Thomas Langley; and a brother-in-law, Elijah Cooper. Eddie is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy A. Grier Langly, whom he married on June 11, 1966. Together, they were blessed with a loving daughter, Sonya M. Langley. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings: Margie Mae Langley Vernon, Lillie Langley Glover, Virginia Langley, and Velma Langley, along with his sister-in-law, Lizzie J. Grier-McCollough and brother-in-law, Elijah McCollough. Eddie's extended family includes nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends who enriched his life. Eddie attended Choppee High School, graduating in 1960, and later moved to Middletown, Connecticut, in 1962. He became an active and dedicated member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee. Eddie's professional career spanned over 35 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he graduated from the apprentice training program and earned a certificate in plumbing. He worked diligently in the Facilities and Services Department until his retirement in 2000. A proud Freemason, Eddie joined Ionic Lodge No. 7 in New Britain before becoming a charter member of George W. Crawford Lodge No. 21 in Middletown, Connecticut. His leadership roles included serving as Worshipful Master four times and Grand Senior Steward for the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Connecticut. Eddie also held a 33rd-degree Mason distinction and was a dedicated member of the Hartford Consistory No. 80 and Miriam Chapter No. 26, O.E.S., P.H.A. Eddie was known for his unwavering dedication to his community, his faithfulness to friends, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. His warmth, integrity, and hard work touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Eddie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

Dorothy and family, so sorry to here of Ed's passing. He was a hard worker at Pratt. I worked on the JT9 bench line and remember him stopping in from time to time to talk to you, Dotty. May the Good Lord send his comforting angel to help you through your time of sorrow.

We were neighbors and Ed helped me out with a couple of plumbing jobs. He didn´t want to take any money, but I told him that I would feel bad if he didn´t take any money. Great guy to have a conversation with about his beloved Corvette. He was very proud of it. We will miss you Ed. Walt Bartoszewicz
