Marvin Sims Obituary

MARVIN SIMS It is with heavy hearts that we proclaim the passing of our beloved Marvin Sims, who left us peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Marvin began his career in banking almost immediately after completing high school, embodying the steadfast work ethic that would define his life. For decades he helped countless families and businesses in South Dallas achieve their financial goals. Retiring, remarkably, at 80 years old. Born on September 15, 1936, to Lucy Garner and Roy E. Sims, Marvin was raised with strong values of family and community service. These principles guided him throughout his life, becoming an active member of the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce, organizations through which he contributed to the betterment of Duncanville, Midlothian, Cedar Hill, and Red Oak. An avid sports enthusiast, Marvin could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, a passion he shared generously with friends and family. The true center of Marvin's world was his family. His enduring 47-year marriage to Gene was a testament to their love. Together they built a beautiful legacy that continues through their family. Marvin is survived by his loving wife Gene; his brother Ronnie; two sons, five grandchildren who were his pride and joy; and nine great-grandchildren who brought new light to his later years. We find comfort in knowing he has reunited with his son Pat, his siblings J.B., Junior, Henry, Bobby, and Blanche, niece Reta Cook, and nephew Jimbo Hughes, who preceded him in death. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the 88 wonderful years we had with him and the countless memories we will cherish forever. Marvin left us with a path of love, integrity, and community spirit that will guide us always. Rest in peace, dear Marvin. We love you beyond measure.
