David L. Pendleton

1940 - 2016

David L. Pendleton, 76, of Hopedale passed away Wed. November 9, 2016 at Brigham and Womens Hospital, Boston, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Karen L. (Caufield) Pendleton. Mr. Pendleton had worked for the U.S. Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base for 32 years and had also served as a firefighter for the town of Hopedale for 10 years. In his retirement he worked in the Fish Department of Shaws Supermarket in Milford. He was born July 28, 1940 in Boston the son of the late James W. and Mary J. (Tibbetts) Pendleton. David was a longtime resident of Hopedale and was known throughout the area as the jam man, selling jams at local fairs. He loved to camp and was the staff cook at The Pines Campground in Ashby. David was a Past Master and member of the John Warren Lodge of Masons, A.F. & A.M. in Hopkinton, a Past Patron and current officer of Mrytle Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Holliston, as well as a member of the York Rite Masonic Bodies in Milford. He was also a past volunteer of the Hopedale Oktoberfest Committee and a member of Friends of Historic Hopedale. In addition to his wife Karen, of 42 years, he is survived by his two sons, Ronald J. and his wife Dawn Pendleton of OH and Randy D. Pendleton of Hopedale; a brother, Alex Butch Pendleton of NY; three sisters, Pat Craffey of Boston, Mary Brasier of Millis and Ellen Dew of Marlborough; four grandchildren, Garrison, Andrew, Elizabeth and Nathan, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 2-6 PM in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Funeral services will be Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11 AM in the Union Evangelical Church, 25 Dutcher St., Hopedale.
