Bret Sukert Obituary

Bret passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. He was fifty-seven when he lost his valiant battle to brain cancer.

Bret was born to parents Henry and Priscilla Jo Sukert. By the time he was 8 months old his hometown became Port Townsend WA. He graduated from Port Townsend High School in June 1985. Shortly after, in September he was off to Army Boot Camp. While in boot camp Bret's Captain offered him West Point. At 18 he felt he was not ready for a military career. Most of his 3-year enlistment was spent in Manchaug, Germany. By the end of his enlistment, he became a Drill Sergeant.

Bret's tour of duty ended in May of 1988. He then joined his dad in Sukert Construction and eventually he became the sole owner of Sukert Construction. Bret was truly a financial wizard. He soon realized construction work was just too hard on his body. Next came Pacific Propane.

Not ready to put his hammer down, Bret decided to build a home. Not long after, he met the love of his life, Shar Garten. Shar came with a special package, her toddler son Garrett. Bret became a family person with a wife and son. Even though Bret was running a propane company, he and Shar decided to build another home. This was a 3-story farmhouse. Along with it he built a 3-car garage with an apartment above it.

After a few years in the farmhouse and running Pacific Propane, they both decided to move to Montesano WA. and created a new propane business from the ground up. Again, his building skills were used, and a successful business was built. The business was Propane Etc. As time passed Propane Etc. grew,

Bret became ill in September 2020. By the end of 2023 he had to sell Propane Etc. and concentrate on his health. For most of his life Bret loved Classic Cars. He restored several classic cars. In the end his two favorites were his 67 Corvette and his 32 Ford Coupe. He won many trophies with his favorites and was even featured in Fuel Curve Magazine. He traveled everywhere to many car shows such as the Good Guys car show in Puyallup WA.

Bret's accomplishments were too many to count. He worked hard and played hard. So many friends and family will miss Bret. Fifty-seven was too soon to say goodbye. When Bret said goodbye to anyone, he always held up two fingers showing the peace sign. Back at you Son… Peace to You.

Preceding Bret in death were Shar - his wife of 28 years, his stepson Garrett, his mother in-law Cynthia Pentlandn, his aunt Carla Newcomb, and his aunt Annie Mullen. Survivors are his Dad and stepmom Hank and Tammy Sukert of Port Townsend WA., mom & stepdad, Jo & Dan Thomas of Port Townsend, Wa., his sister Kelly Alexander of Marysville WA, stepbrother David Thomas Stepsister Michelle Stimac (Timothy), Stepsister Dana Jameson (Juston), Stepsister Heather Moody (Tez), His aunt Pauline Rogers, his aunt Arlis Whittington, his aunt Pernel Chapman, his aunt and uncle CJ and Leon Dewitt and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, his best friend Rich Staph Jr.

At Bret's request, there will be no services.
