Carroll Buchanan

SPRUCE PINE – Carroll Reed Buchanan, age 71, of the Grassy Creek community, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2025. He was a son of the late Lealon and Marie Howell Buchanan. Carroll was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Clayton Troy Autrey, and his father-in-law, Ulysis Pitman.
Carroll was a hard worker who always provided for his family. He could be found outside working in the yard around the house and loved hanging out with Finley, his daughter's dog. Most of all, Carroll loved spending time with his wife of 42 years, and the time they spent together created cherished memories that will live on. He will be greatly and deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his loving wife, Cynthia Buchanan; daughter Lauren Buchanan of Spruce Pine; brother Duane Buchanan (Linda); sisters Kimberly Buchanan and Michelle Buchanan, all of Arbuckle; niece Allisyn Smith (Aaron) of Arbuckle; great-nephew Lachlan Smith of Arbuckle; and mother-in-law Vera Pitman of Spruce Pine.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 4 in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. The Rev. Steve Williams and the Rev. Gary Lavender will officiate.
