Stephen Rowland Obituary
STEPHEN "STEVE" RUSSELL ROWLAND
Stephen Russell Rowland (72) passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024. Steve was born February 26, 1952, to Frank and Ann (Cross) Rowland in Randolph County, MO.
He attended Moberly High School, graduating in May 1970. After attending classes at Moberly Junior College, Steve worked as a draftsman at Toastmasters in Moberly, Columbia, and finally in Macon until that facility closed in 2001.
In 2000, Steve met his lovely wife Brenda, who preceded him in death in October 2023. They built a life together, enjoying their children and grandchildren, socializing out in the community, and doing everything together. Over the years, they had several fur baby companions together, most recently Steve's beloved Sephora who passed away the day after he died.
Everyone who knew Steve will remember his quick wit and excellent sense of humor he loved teasing people and telling jokes! Even in his last days, he was kidding around with his nurses. Steve loved to play golf and spend time at the golf course. He was also a league bowler in Moberly.
In addition to his wife, Steve was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children: Andy (Samantha) Rowland and Joey Rowland of Huntsville, Jeff (Tessa) Rowland of Columbia, Angela (Corey) Wallis of Fayetteville, NC, and Melissa Shelby of St. Robert. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Heath, Milton, and Julia of Huntsville; Henry and Thomas of Huntsville; Devon, Kason, and Kambree of Columbia; Ryan and Noble of Fayetteville, NC; and Gisela of Wisconsin. He is also survived by one sister, Stacey (Jim) Tinkham of Liberty. He will also be missed by many friends in the Moberly community.
A prayer service followed by a memorial luncheon for Steve will take place on Friday, August 30th at 11:00 am in the St. Pius X Church Undercroft in Moberly. Family and friends are welcome to come enjoy a meal in Steve's memory. Steve will be laid to rest next to Brenda with a private burial at Seaton Cemetery in Dixon, MO.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Moberly Animal Shelter or Moberly Parks & Recreation for the benefit of Heritage Hills Golf Course.
