Alan Brown Obituary

Alan Wilson Brown, 84, of Oakdale, died peacefully in his sleep on December 4, 2025 from complications due to Parkinson's Disease and several other long-term health issues.

Al was born June 9, 1941 in Modesto, to parents Thomas Wilson Brown and Eura Mae (Shaw) Brown, and grew up in Riverbank. He attended Sylvan Elementary School and graduated from Downey High School.

After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and during that time, attended 2 years at the University of Maryland. He was then stationed in Japan during the Vietnam War, working as a cryptographer.

After being honorably discharged 4 years later, he came back to the Central Valley and got a job selling cars at Best Chevrolet in 1971. He worked in the car business for 50 years at dealerships up and down the Valley and in the Bay Area in almost every aspect of the business, and owned his own car lot for many years.

When not working, Al loved to fish and had several favorite areas where he would spend hours trying to catch the Big One. He was an avid SF Giants and 49ers fan. He also took great pleasure in trying to trounce anyone willing to play Scrabble at family get-togethers.

In 2022 he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and started taking classes designed to help those with Parkinson's improve their quality of life with the disease. The family would like to thank Lori and Emma, who taught the Power Over Parkinson's Fitness Classes. Al enjoyed attending classes, seeing his friends there, and participating in all the fun and challenging exercises.

Al is predeceased by his parents, his brother Tom, his son Edward, and his daughter-in-law Maria.

He is survived by his wife, Lynnea; children, Ted, Downtown LauraBrown (Michael), Kellie (John), and Jared (Kaitlyn); his sister, Loretta (Michael), and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Al's wishes, there will be no services. He was cremated and his ashes will be scattered at his favorite fishing spot in the Spring.

He will be dearly missed.

I knew Al and Lynnea when they moved in across the street on Old Farm Road. I lost their phone number and am so sorry I did. Al was a very kind, sweet neighbor. He will be missed.
