Alexander Bazos Obituary
MAY 27, 1944 - SEPT 10, 2018
Alexander Andrew Bazos was born in Tragano, Greece during World War II. His father was a translator for the US, so Alex was born with both Greek and US citizenship. His family migrated to Springfield, Massachusetts when he was seven. During his four years in the Air Force Alex was trained in big frame computer engineering and maintenance, which led to a lengthy career in this field.
He married Effie in 1969 and during their 49-year marriage they traveled across the country and lived in six different states. They settled in Modesto in 1986 and in 1990 Alex and Effie opened their current business, Laser Plus. Alex was very active in the Modesto Greek Orthodox Church including serving on the parish council and assisting the Greek dance ministry. He was also an avid member of AHEPA.
Alex had a big heart! He loved music, traveling, taking photos, the Boston Celtics, a spirited debate, Neil Diamond's "America" and, most of all, his family. He is survived by his loving wife Effie, two children; Melissa (George) Tsongranis and Andre (Audrey) Bazos, three adoring grandsons; Jude, Nomikos, and August, and four siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Modesto Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or the AHEPA Chapter 246 Scholarship Fund (in c/o the church listed above).

Alex and I spent our military years together and we had many fun times together traveling together in his TR3 and double dating together. Although we lost tract of each other after Alex and his wife moved to NJ. Rest in peace my dear friend. Tom DenHaese

I am deeply saddened to hear this. Alex and I were classmates at Classical High School in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was outgoing, funny, kind, smart and deeply connected to his Greek heritage. My heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and friends.
