Benjamin "Dale" Petero
November 9, 1945 - May 23, 2013
Dale Petero of Modesto, California, passed away on May 23, 2013, after a long struggle with Agent Orange caused cancer, at his home, with his friends and family at his bedside at the age of 67.  He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 9, 1945.  He was a self employed flooring contractor for 50 years.  Dale enjoyed fishing, camping, coaching baseball, and spending time with family and friends.
He attended grammar school and high school in Stockton, California.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1968, where he served his country proudly in the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged in 1970 as a PVT E-1, and received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Marksman Medal for rifle.   He was a member of the American Legion and was never without his Vietnam Veteran ball cap.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Anne Petero, four brothers, Wayne Petero of Montana, Eddie Petero of Idaho, Logan Petero of California and Jack Petero of California; 7 children, George Richardson, Harley and Tammie Petero, Eva and Mark Steele, Dale and Lisa Petero; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Marion Petero, and his sister, Darlene Weimer of Iowa. 
He was a member of Living Grace Church in Riverbank, California.  In lieu of flowers, do an act of charity for a stranger, friend or charity of your choice
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 28 from 5-8 pm, at Eaton Family Funeral home in Modesto.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 10 am, at the Modesto Cemetery Association located on Scenic Drive in Modesto.

Ann & family,
The world is a little less brighter without Dale, I loved that he always had a hug and smile for everyone. He was down-to-earth, funny, the heart of any party, a gentle soul. I am saddened to hear of his passing. I will remember him always.

Aunt Ann, We are sad for the passing of Uncle Dale, were talking about going camping, going to races , family gatherings and of course the late nite casino nights..
