Delphina Nicolas Obituary
DELPHINA L. SERNA NICOLAS DEC. 24, 1918 - OCT. 10, 2007 Della Nicolas was born in Huntington Beach, CA, one of 10 siblings. The family traveled north during the 'forties, and in Modesto Della met her husband Frank, marrying in 1944. They operated Frank's Bar on 7th and G St., and in 1948 moved to the home place on Paradise Rd. Frank was a labor contractor and farmer; both working together, Nana'' being the ultimate strong woman behind the man. She raised 6 children and 2 step-sons, working endlessly for her family. Her kitchen was open to anyone, no one left hungry, and she enjoyed visiting with people over a cup of Nana's'' coffee. She leaves behind 6 adult children; 4 sons, Joseph R. Nicolas of La Mesa, CA, Harvey San Nicolas and wife Terry, Harold Nicolas and Roy Nicolas, all of Modesto; 2 daughters, Dolores Nicolas Hilton and husband Jack, of Oakdale, and Clotilde Nicolas Bejaran, of Modesto. She is survived by 4 sisters, Rosie Menchaca, Hilaria Garcia, Sophia Nieto, from Southern Calif, Lucy Saldana of Turlock, and one brother, Frank Serna of Modesto. There are 14 grandchildren, 22 great grand children and 3 great-great grand children that will miss the love of their Nana''.
She was preceded in death by husband, Frank of 47 years; sons, Peter Perez, Frank Nicolas Jr., Reynold Nicolas; granddaughter, Shannon San Nicolas; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00 P.M., Thursday, Oct. 18 with Services on Friday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 P.M., both at Colonial Chapel-Franklin & Downs. Committal will follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

My Nana i miss you sooo much but i know your N' a wonderful place now N' your more happier than ever. It was hard 2 see you leave us all the way u did... one night were jus @ da hospital hangn out makin sure your ok, then da next day we get a phone call telln us you passed on. But it was sad @ first n we all cried, but then my tears became happy tears because i was just so glad that you didn't have to suffer anymore or feel anymore pain. I knew that day wasn't goodbye it was just "see you later". Cuz we'll see eachother again N' i just cant wait till that day. But you'll be N' my heart N' mind 4ever because you were just such an awesome Great Grandmother. I love <3 yooouuu sooooo Much NANA.

Della my very special sister in law. Thank you for all the love & kindness that you gave to me & my family. When I think of you I always remember Poncho calling you "Della", and all the wonderful family gatherings. So many unforgetable memories. Roy, Lole and Dede, I was so sorry to learn of your Mother's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
Mrs Nicolas was truely a strong women and mother. I remember well the many times when we all sat around her large kitchen table talking and how well she made me feel welcome with her great food, warmth and laughter.
You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
