Kay Hagen Obituary

Kay Hagen
August 24, 1933 - January 5, 2021
Modesto, California - Kay Hagen, 87, of Modesto, left this earth on Jan. 5, 2021. Born in Modesto on Aug. 24, 1933, she was raised by her grandparents Blanche and James Allen. She had fond memories of riding horses in her youth along what was then rural McHenry Avenue. She attended Modesto schools and formed life-long friendships.
Kay graduated from Modesto High School in 1951 and married William Hagen in April 1952. They raised a family of five children. Kay had a long career with Modesto City Schools, retiring in 1999. She worked as a registrar and health clerk at Davis, Downey, Beyer and Modesto high schools. She loved helping students and said Modesto High was her favorite campus.
She is survived by sons Kevin (Monterey) and David (Turlock), daughters Nancy Zweifel (Michael) and Anne Looker (Mark) of Modesto, daughter-in-law Nancy Hagen-Goldstucker (Chicago.); grandchildren Alison Ryan (Joe), Carolyn Shaivitz (Jeff), Meredith Zweifel, Patrick Looker, Samantha Looker, and great-grandchildren William, Jude, Vivian and Clover.
She is also survived by her sisters Joan Koehnen of Carmel and Sheila Efflandt of Modesto, her cousin Robin Dooley and nieces Lynn Grenfell, Caryl Arnese, Erin Arnese and Marlene Reiss.
She is pre-deceased by grandparents Blanche and James Allen, her dear daughter Sandra Hagen-Goldstucker, her husband Bill and nephews Terry, Steven and Chris Curnow.
Kay was a sassy lady who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She had a passion for politics and government and was a lifelong Democrat who never missed an election.
She became a "cat lady" in her later years, nurturing quite a collection of stray cats until her move to Orangeburg Manor two years ago. She retained a deep love for all creatures great and small. Donations in her memory would be welcomed by your favorite animal rescue organization.
Kay's family would like to thank her caregivers at Orangeburg Manor for their dedication in caring for our mother.
A private service will take place at Acacia Memorial Park.

Although Liz and I met Kay a few times during special occasions she was hoot to talk to. The most memorable talk was in England for Ally and Joe's wedding. Our sympathy and best wishes to relatives and friends. The Gans

My condolences to her family . I am wondering if this is the Kay Hagen that worked at Muncy school when I was a child ? She was a so nice to students and I even got to help her in the office when I was in 6th grade. I will always remember her kind ways and very neat desk .
I am 63 now and work in a school office myself . I have fond memories of her .
