Mary Runge Obituary
July 25, 1928 - January 8, 2014
Mary Munson Runge passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2014. She was born in Louisiana on July 25, 1928 to Dr. and Mrs. John H. Lowery. The daughter of a country doctor, Mary developed an early interest in medicine. She graduated from Xavier University School of Pharmacy in 1948, one of the few women in the profession at the time. She received Honorary Doctors of Science and Pharmacy from Mass. College of Pharmacy and Ohio Northern university. Mary devoted herself to supporting the issues of Pharmacy in the United States, serving as President of the Calif. and American Pharmaceutical Associations, serving on the Calif. State Board of Pharmacy, and the Reagan-Bush Health Advisory Committee. She will be remembered as a role model, paving the way for women in pharmacy. Mary leaves behind her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Alfred J. Runge, devoted daughter, Claudia Munson-Schrumpf of Ceres, loving step-daughters, Robin Chase of Petaluma, Leslie Corren of Stockton and grandchildren: Laurel Corren Carr, Melanie Chase and Nathan Corren. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Alzheimers Assoc or Alzheimers Foundation of America.

My prayers are with Al and yourself. I will miss my cousin truly. She is the last of the third generation of the Lowery family. She will be missed at all of the family reunion to come. I love you and Al. May God peace be with you.

Al and Claudia,I was so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. The last time I spoke to Mary was to tel her about the death of Don Thill. He was a Pharmacist.We met her at MICL at MJC. My thoughts and prayers are with you.`
