Steve Souza Obituary

Steve Joseph Souza
March 14, 1946 - November 10, 2015
Steve Joseph Souza, age 69, passed away in the loving care of his wife and in the comfort of his own home on November 10, 2015. His children were fortunate to spend time with him in his final week, as were other close family members and friends.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Anita Souza of Modesto, California and by his sister, Evea (Eric) Newsom of Reston, Virginia. He leaves behind two sons, Julio Souza and Mario (Vanessa) Souza, and two daughters, Julieanne (Michael) Dowd and Annette Souza, two grandaughters, Isabella Dowd, Nicoletta Dowd, and his grandson Joaquin Souza, also many nieces and nephews from California, Florida, and Virginia.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe P. Souza, Mary O. Souza, and his brother, Michael Souza.
Steve was an alumni from the University of San Francisco with a Doctorate in Education and was a retired resource teacher from East Union High School. Steve was also a local farmer who enjoyed driving his tractor and having his morning cup of coffee from a local diner.  He enjoyed fishing, opened his doors to those in need, and took great pride in providing for his family. Steve's humor and playful personality sustained him throughout his life.  He was engaging and conversant, and a man of high integrity.  He is deeply missed and sincerely loved.
Family and friends are encouraged to attend a memorial mass.  Mass will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church (709 J Street) in Modesto, CA at 10:00 A.M. The family requests that charitable donations be made in Steve's honor in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I'm am sad to see that Steve past away but he left some good memories I will not forget. I Remember sitting in his back yard talking about his boat and fishing in the ocean. Also, talking about our job being special needs teacher and it's challenges we faced every day. I really appreciate and will miss his support and friendship.
