Terry Davis Obituary

Terry Davis
Dec 20, 1939 - Oct 17, 2017
Terry Davis passed away October 17, 2017 after a long illness. He fought hard against a number of ailments for several years. Terry was born on December 20, 1939 at McPheeters Hospital in Modesto, CA. Terry's mother was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his father was born in Jefferson, Oregon. Terry's father's family came to Oregon in a covered wagon.
Terry attended school at Enslen Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High, and graduated from Downey HS class of 1957. He attended the Arizona School of Art after graduation. He came home to run the family business, Don L. Davis Painting from 1962 to 1995, marrying Marsha during that time on April 3, 1966. Unbelievably, Terry went square dancing at the Sylvan Club on the corner of McHenry and Sylvan in the late 1960's. Terry really enjoyed having breakfast twice a month with many of his 1957 Downey Duck friends.
Terry loved old cars. Terry and his best friend since 1955, Don Cunningham, enjoyed restoring a 1937 Ford which won national honors at the V-8 meet in Dearborn, Michigan in 1988 for its attention to details. Terry and Don were also beginning to restore a 1927 Model T Ford. Terry belonged to the Early Ford V-8 Club of America and was the National President for 2 years and the local president for 4 years. Terry also belonged to the Antique Automobile Club of America which met in Modesto for many years. Terry was president of the Builders Exchange of Modesto for two years. Terry and Don drove to the famous swap meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 2010.
Terry and Marsha drove a 1950 Baby Lincoln in the 80's and 90's. They made many trips in their old cars with club members to car events in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. They bought a travel trailer in 2004 and visited several states.
Terry is survived by his wife, Marsha Sagor Davis from Parlier, CA (married 51 years) and their 3 children: Jim Davis, Allan Davis (Kim), and Tracy Davis Moore (Doug). Terry loved and was loved by his 5 very precious grandchildren: Aria Davis, Emma Davis, Austin Moore, Addison Moore, and Audrey Moore. He is also survived by his older brother Glenn Davis (Davidsonville, MD) and his two children, Kenneth and Todd Davis.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Terry on November 5th at 1:00 pm at the Elks Lodge, 646 Charity Way, Modesto. There were also be a private burial at Lakewood Memorial Park November 6th at 11:00 am. Any remembrances can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95801, or one of your choice.

Many fond memories of Terry growing up. The Davis household basement is forever etched in my memory, as are Marsha's wonderful chicken sandwiches. Jim, AJ and Tracy- like me, you were blessed with great parents. We were lucky to be born in this great country and to have great parents. We hit the lotto twice. Eternal be his memory.
