Iris Dzelzkalns

Iris May Christiana Bellinger Dzelzkalns, born March 28, 1936 in the Hendon District of London, England, passed away suddenly at her home on January 24, 2016 at the age of 79. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00PM at Leak Memory Chapel. Iris was very proud of her British heritage and was extremely devoted to her family. She had a pure heart, was loving and generous, honest, and especially a trusting and loyal friend to all who knew her. Iris was an avid gardener, and volunteered as a seamstress for the Montgomery ballet. She loved all God's creatures, including her beloved cats, Sheba, Jezabell, Louie and Soloman. Iris was also a retired employee with the Alabama State Highway Department. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry Seymour Bellinger and Amy Elliott; and brother, David Bellinger. She is survived by three sons, Valdis Dzelzkalns and his wife Sheila, Eriks Dzelzkalns, Martin Dzelzkalns; daughter, Karen Abramowitz and her husband Matthew; grandchildren, Eriks Dzelzkalns, Sarah Dzelzkalns Cotten and her husband Andrew, Travis Riggs, Brandon Riggs, Alyse Dzelzkalns and Logan Dzelzkalns; great grandchildren, Eriks "Buddy" Dzelzkalns, Maximilian Strong Cotten; sister, Joyce Haberman; brother, Martin Bellinger; nieces, Jackie and Lisa; and nephews Paul and Helene.
