Pittsburgh - Charles "Chuck" Bruce Haile, 75, of Pittsburg, passed away at 5:14 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital-St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born December 13, 1945 at Wichita, Kansas to Charles Bruce and Margaret E. (Chandler) Lossing. He was raised and adopted by his step-father, John Haile. He graduated from Harrisonville High School.
Chuck served in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968 before being honorably discharged.
After serving in the Army, Chuck drove a semi-truck while living in California. After moving back to Pittsburg, he worked for a local cable company. In 1973 he went to work for the Kansas City Southern Railroad, starting as a brakeman, then conductor before becoming an engineer. He retired after 30 years of service with them.
On June 22, 2003, he married Sandra Overman in Pittsburg. She survives at the family home.
Chuck loved to camp, fish, and watch NASCAR racing. He loved to bowl, where he participated with his bowling team in area leagues. Chuck was especially proud of receiving a bowling ring for scoring a perfect 300.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy of the home; two sons, Jason Haile of Orange, Texas and Chris Haile and his wife, Lauren of Land O'Lakes, Florida;
