Mary Ginardi Obituary

Mary Ginardi, 101, died on August 13, 2014 at Via Christi Medical Center. She was a resident of Frontenac, Kansas, making her home at 306 North Cayuga, where she spent most of her life.
Mary was born May 24, 1913 in Breezy Hill, KS, the daughter of John and Ellena Mattivi. She lived her entire life in the Frontenac area and was a graduate of Frontenac High School.
Throughout Mary's life she worked at a variety of jobs, including Peter Pan Ice Cream, making deserts for Frontenac Schools, and putting hems in the pants of soldier's uniforms. While living in Kansas City she worked for Hallmark and made cards and lastly, she worked for Montgomery Ward.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family and her church, and was an incredible lifelong homemaker. Mary enjoyed meeting people. She was a skilled conversationalist and took great delight in "just sitting around talking".
Mary was an exceptional cook, always excited to try new recipes. She took pride in preparing food that her family requested and relished. Some of her most "famous" dishes included pecan pie, chocolate Èclairs, and her holiday treat plates, which were as appealing on the outside as they were tasty on the inside!
Family members and friends were benefactors of her knitting and crocheting hobbies. She created masterful sweaters and afghans, along with hand towels and collars. If something could be knitted or crocheted, Mary could make it! She made heirloom sweater and bootie sets for babies born to members of her circle of friends and family, and occasionally sold some of her creations to members of the community who appreciated her handiwork.
Mary was a marathon shopper! She could window shop and browse for hours without becoming fatigued. She always appreciated a good joke because she loved to laugh and was quite the storyteller. Her ability to remember details was enviable. Mary never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special event that involved a loved one, and she always searched for "just the right" card that expressed her sentiments.
Mary was a unique and precious soul who will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Ronald Ginardi of the home, and many devoted nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jules Ginardi, her sister, Isabel Beitzinger, her parents,
